2011-12 Senior City Tournament Final Results

The official tournament results with cash prize listing is posted. Congratulations to all of the champions. All division champions and scratch titlists will earn a complimentary meal at our annual Dinner with the Champions, held in October of each season to kick off the new tournament year.

Seppa Dominates 2011-12 Senior Masters

Dan Seppa led wire to wire at the third annual Madison USBC Bowling Association Senior Masters on Saturday, October 19 at Spartan Bowl in McFarland, and capped it off with a 201-160 victory over Herb Kimpel in the title match. This year, 40 of our top association bowlers 50 and older competed for a record prize fund of $2,155.00 - including $1,450.00 from tournament sponsors.

Village Bowlers Show Off at Village Lanes

Rachel Zimmer, President of the All-Star Coed Classic league at Village Lanes and Eric Serfort tied for the top spot in this year's League Officer sweeper held at Village Lanes in Monona. Zimmer, who averaged 191 in two leagues at Village last season, fired an impressive 670 scratch set and added 82 pins handicap for a 752 total. Serfort, who averages 227, bowled the tournament high scratch series of 752. The duo edged out fellow Village Lanes bowler Dave Allen, who rolled a 708 scratch series for a 750 total.

David Beres Wins First MAST Title

Dave Beres wins his first MAST title to win $444. He defeated Mike Steil in the title match, who received $264 for second place. The tournament drew 38 bowlers and all bowlers who competed will receive 25 bonus points. The cut to the top eight and match play was 921 for four games. Dave Beres led qualifying with 1018 and will receive another 25 bonus points.

Dan Seppa Wins Title #6

In a veteran final, Dan Seppa defeated Herb Kimpel, 245 to 204, to win his 6th MAST title. Seppa received $439 for the win and Kimpel received $233 as runner up. The tournament was held on a USBC Blue pattern and drew 46 bowlers. All bowlers will receive 25 bonus points for competing on the Blue pattern. A score of 954 over 4 games was required to advance as one of the top 12 to match play. Chris Pounders led qualifying at 1037 and will receive another 25 bonus points.

Michael Steil Wins His First MAST Title

Mike Steil defeats 16-time MAST champion Herb Kimpel to win his first MAST title. Steil bowled a 279 in the title match to secure the win and $512. Kimpel received $282 for second. The tournament drew 56 bowlers who competed on the 2011 USBC Open Championship shot. Casey Gibney led qualifying with 955 to earn an extra 25 bonus points. A score of 840 or better was required to advance to match play and all who competed will receive an extra 25 bonus points for the challenge condition.
