NexGen Ramsden tops Thaden for Masters Title

A pair of 20 year olds slugged it out for the fourth annual MBA Masters title while a score of bowlers twice their age watched the new generation at work. Cody Ramsden topped 44 competitors, including high qualifier Tony Thaden, steamrolling through four stepladder matches to win the fourth annual MBA Masters, held on February 4, 2012. The tournament was hosted by Prairie Lanes, site of the 2011-12 Association Championship tournament. Ramsden is easily the youngest MBA Masters champion and surely one of the youngest to hold an MBA tournament title of any kind.

The official tournament results with cash prize listing is posted. Congratulations to all of the champions. All division champions and scratch titlists will earn a complimentary meal at our annual Dinner with the Champions, held in October of each season to kick off the new tournament year.

Seppa Dominates 2011-12 Senior Masters

Dan Seppa led wire to wire at the third annual Madison USBC Bowling Association Senior Masters on Saturday, October 19 at Spartan Bowl in McFarland, and capped it off with a 201-160 victory over Herb Kimpel in the title match. This year, 40 of our top association bowlers 50 and older competed for a record prize fund of $2,155.00 - including $1,450.00 from tournament sponsors.

Brian Hoffman Wins 7th Career Title

Congratulations to Brian Hoffman for wining his 7th MAST title. Hoffman defeated Gail Myers Jr., 238 to 198, to win $454. Myers received $241 for second place. Brian also bet on himself to win, to earn another $275. The tournament drew 47 bowlers and was contested on the USBC Blue pattern. The cut to the top 12 and match play was 903. All who bowled will receive 25 bonus points for competing on the challenge condition.

Thomas Wins 11th MAST Title

Rick Thomas defeated Paul Bloemer, 277 to 214, to win his 11th MAST title. Thomas received $451 for the win and Bloemer took home $248 for second place. Thomas dominated the day, bowling games of 276, 259, 259, and 268 to lead the qualifying round with 1062 and earn 25 bonus points. His lowest game, a 227, came in the first round of match play, followed by 258, 246, and 277 for the win.

Punzel Wins Viking Event

Congratulations to Kevin Punzel on his first MAST tournament win. He defeated Brian Hoffman, 246 to 197, in the title match to earn $475. Hoffman received $261 for second place. A MAST tournament has not been held at Viking Lanes since 1992. The cut back then was 880 and defending champion was Ken Siarkiewicz. For the present tournament, the cut was 909 for 4 games of qualifying. Fifty-four bowlers competed, which included 8 house bowlers.
